Beaches
We are ner to some of the best beaches. These are a few of our favourites (all between 15 and 25 mins away), but there are plenty of others to explore.
Bigbury on Sea / Burgh Island – a fabulous sandy beach joined by causeway (at low tide) to Burgh Island.
Bantham – Regularly in Lonely Planet’s top 10 beaches in Europe, Bantham is a huge sandy beach at the mouth of the Avon estuary, great for surfing and body-boarding as well as sandcastles.
South Milton Sands – a (fairly coarse) sandy beach – great for rockpools at low tide and sandcastles and digging.
Blackpool Sands – a fine shingle beach set in a sheltered bay. A great family beach with good facilities.
Slapton Sands – just 15 minutes away, a long stretch of fine shingle beach, there is a WW2 memorial to commemorate its use for military exercises in WW2.
Hope Cove – Hope is a small seaside village with two sandy beach areas with rock pools.
