Nearby Towns

We are lucky to be close to some great local towns – all of which are open year-round rather than seasonal.

Kingsbridge is just over five miles away has an array of shops. Fore Street is the main high street and has many independent clothing, homeware and interior shops as well as bakeries, cafes, fishmongers, greengrocers and butchers. Kingsbridge Farmer’s Market takes place every other Saturday and is very popular. The town also has two large supermarkets.

Dartmouth, a historic naval town with a fabulous nautical feel and lots of galleries, shops and independent cafes, is about 10 miles to the east. It also plays host to Dartmouth Regatta Week, a fantastic annual event attracting visitors from far and wide.

Salcombe is a well-heeled sailing town with plenty to see and do including the gin distillery, lifeboat museum and independent galleries, shops and cafes. There’s a great ferry from South Sands into the heart of the town which is well worth a trip.

Not much further away is Totnes, a pioneer of the shop-local movement and regularly named as one of the happiest places to live in the UK.
