Once a lowly hay barn, Martingale is now an imposing cottage offering flexible living over three floors, with secure, gated, garden areas. It’s perfect for groups of friends and large families wanting to be under one roof whilst making the most of their holiday in South Devon.
On the ground floor there’s a family en-suite bedroom with a king bed and single bed; a family bathroom and a large twin bedroom with 2 single beds. Both of these rooms can accommodate a cot but the overall capacity of the cottage is 12.
On the top floor there is a large double bedroom with a small en-suite shower room, a family room with a king sized bed and a single bed and a a compact twin bedroom (with two single beds) and another family bathroom.
Sandwiched between the top and bottom floors (but with direct access outside also) is the living floor with a spacious living room, well equipped kitchen and dining room with space for everyone. Martingale also has a useful utility room with a washer, dryer and extra fridge space.
Martingale has a private BBQ terrace with seating for everyone from which you can enjoy the evening sun and view across the valley. It also has a secluded sloped lawned garden.
The cottage has parking for 3 cars. We can often accommodate extra vehicles in our car park by prior arrangement. Guests will of course have use of our facilities including our heated indoor swimming pool, tennis court, woodland boules court, zip wire, games barn and playground.
Please note that the description of the bedroom layout above is the updated layout as at May 2022. The photographs (and tour) show a slightly different configuration of beds in two of the rooms. We are updating the photos shortly.

FAQs
How far are the cottages from Totnes town centre?
We are 9 miles from Totnes, 5 miles from Kingsbridge and 10 miles from Dartmouth.
Do all cottages include access to the indoor pool?
Yes, all guests have free use of our indoor heated swimming pool.
Are dogs welcome?
Three of our cottages are pet-friendly: Martingale, Mullen & Kimblewick.
Is there parking and EV charging?
Each cottage has sufficient parking for it's occupants and we can often accommodate extra vehicles in our car park by prior arrangement. There is no EV charging on-site.
What facilities are available for children?
We have a fantastic outdoor playground with a large trampoline, interactive climbing frame, zip-wire and more. Inside the Play barn, teens (and adults alike!) can enjoy table tennis, table football, and a two-player arcade video game. The heated swimming pool has floats, noodles and water toys. Children are welcome to join us every day, whatever the weather, to help us to feed our animals.
Are short breaks available outside peak season?
We typically offer Friday to Friday bookings, however if you cannot find (or are unable to book) the exact dates you are looking for, do drop us an email or give us a call on: 01548 521 234 as we may be able to give you greater flexibility than as set out in the calendar.
